Indonesian expats in the UAE were treated to a unique spectacle while celebrating their 74th Independence Day on Saturday.
In the UAE, around 100,000 Indonesians work and live across the emirates, a little over half of them in Dubai and the northern emirates.
Several Indonesians visited their country’s consulate early in the morning for a series of official and social activities.
The day was made even more special when the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa, lit up with the Indonesian flag on Saturday at 20:40 local time.
According to Yunita Purwaningtyas, of the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia, it was the first time the Indonesian flag was displayed on the iconic United Arab Emirates’s building. Check it out below.
