Local Indonesian food has always stimulated our senses with bold flavours, intriguing aromas, and even the enticing sound of sate sizzling.
However, local street food has never been too easy on the eyes… until now! Dade Akbar is the host of Instagram account, ‘Warteg Gourmet’, launched October last year.
Dade believes that just because street food is cheap, it doesn’t mean it can’t be presented in an interesting way — and thus, appreciated more. With his artsy touch, a meal from a warteg that costs 15,000 rupiah (USD $1.20) can look like a plate from a fine-dining restaurant.
Take a peek below and get inspired by some of Warteg Gourmet’s most popular dishes. All images and recipes are courtesy of Dade Akbar and Warteg Gourmet.
