Rendang And Nasi Goreng Were Voted The World’s Best Foods… Again!

If you’ve been to Indonesia, you’re well aware of the culinary treasures that the country has to offer.
In 2011, Rendang, the scrumptious meat dish from West Sumatra, was crowned the Best Food in CNN’s World’s 50 Best Foods.
Once again, in the most recent list published 12th July 2017, Rendang is number 1. This time, second to Rendang on the top was Nasi Goreng, Indonesia’s renowned and beloved Fried Rice. This surely confirms Indonesia’s reign over the world’s best-loved cuisines!
The list was compiled by CNN following a poll on Facebook, from 35,000 votes, when Rendang and Nasi Goreng finished in 1st and 2nd place. Meanwhile, another Indonesian culinary icon, Sate also made it to the list in 14th place.
Having received more than 10 times the votes compared to its Thai counterpart, Nasi Goreng (the Indonesian Fried Rice) was propelled to number 2 in 2017.
Below are the Indonesian treasures as they appear on CNN’s list:
